Al-Jazeera: Qatari guarantees to ensure the safety of Arafat

Qatari foreign minister, Sheikh Jasem Bin Jaber al-Thani, has announced he had received guarantees from Israel that the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat "will not be harmed." In a statement to the Qatari TV satellite station al-Jazeera, Jasem said he had made contacts with the Israeli authorities after he had on Friday received a telephone call from Arafat and the Israelis promised him they will cause no harm to Arafat.
