Al-Watan: Kuwait rejects use of its lands against Iraq, without UN approval
Kuwait-iraq, Politics, 9/23/2002

Kuwait's Jaber al-Mubarak al-Hamad al-Sabah, deputy prime minister and minister of defense, has announced that Kuwait informed the US its rejection to use of its lands in any military strike against Iraq unless there will be a resolution to this effect by the UN Security Council.

In a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Watan issued on Sunday, al-Mubarak hinted that this is the declared Kuwaiti position which was confirmed earlier by Kuwait's Minister of State For Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah.

Al-Mubarak denied the increase in the number of the American military forces in Kuwait.

Replying to press reports to that effect, al-Mubarak said there are forces arriving in Kuwait and others leaving, and all of these are being made in line of military agreements and conducted exercises.
