Al-Mifdal has the ministries of infrastructure and tourism in Israel
Israel, Politics, 9/20/2002
The Israeli religious national party ( al-Mifdal ) on Wednesday approved the proposal made by Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon to have the two ministries of the infrastructure and tourism run by two parliamentarians from the the party.
The leader of the said party Ave Eitam will have the ministry of the infrastructure while Yitzhak Levy will have the ministry of Tourism. At the meantime, Eitam and levy are ministers without portfolio in the government.
By assuming the ministry of the infrastructure, Eitam will accelerate the pace of settlements, as it is among the missions of this ministry to supervise the settlements in the West Bank and Gaza.
Al-Mifdal had announced upon joining the government in the spring of this year that it does not want to assume any portfolios, and that their joining the government is to support Sharon's extremist security views.
However, the activists of al-Mifdal made pressures in recent weeks on the leaders of the party in order to ask for having ministerial "posts."
