Bahrain: 88 candidates so far for parliamentary elections

Official figures in Manama revealed on Tuesday that the number of candidates for the parliamentary elections which will be held in October in Bahrain increased to 88 candidates of both sexes. Bahrain opened the door for nomination on September 14 for one week for the elections which will be held on October 24 which are the first since 28 years.
The government of Bahrain sees in these parliamentary elections as an advanced step towards democratic reforms in the Kingdom.
However, four societies announced they will not take part in the parliamentary elections because of the amendments introduced by the king recently to the constitution.
Municipal elections were held in the kingdom in May this year, the first time since 30 years.
