Some 24 Libyan prisoners return from the USA
Libya-USA, Politics, 9/19/2002

The chairman of the Libyan- American friendship society Adel al-Daeimi announced on Tuesday that the society was able to return back some 24 Libyans who were arrested in Chad and transported to the USA in 1987 during military confrontation that took place between Libya and Chad under the leadership of Hussein Habri at that time.

Immediately after the collapse of the Hussein Habri regime in Chad and upon the current President Idris Deibi control of the capital Njamina in 1987, Washington transported some 200 Libyan soldiers to the US in an attempt from the American side to form military units to be used against the Libyan regime.
