Yemen-USA, Local, 9/17/2002
American official sources announced on Monday that the five Yemenis who are carrying the American nationality and who were arrested on Friday in Buffalo, New York, under the charge of forming a cell for al-Qaida organization were investigated several weeks before the attacks of September 11, 2001.
The sources added that their detention was followed by arresting a 6th member in the cell in Bahrain and came as a result of an investigation that lasted more than one year following information which talked about the travel of the five men to Afghanistan.
The American officials said that the five detainees belong to a "terrorist cell" and they were trained to use weapons in al-Farouk camp near Qindahar.
