Al-Barazani: the US did not informs us of time for any attack against Iraq
Iraq-USA, Politics, 9/16/2002
The chairman of the Kurdistani Democratic Party, Masoud al-Barazani, has disclosed that the US did not inform the Iraqi opposition parties anything about the date of any military attack against Iraq, noting that all they said was that they (the USA) have taken a decision to change the regime.
In statements issued on Sunday by the Kuwaiti daily al-Qabas, al-Barazani denied that there are airports in northern Iraq which fall under the Kurdish militias, currently fit for planes landing, noting that there are two or three runways where planes do not land and their operational capability is not ensured.
On the relation with each of Iran and Turkey, al-Barazani warned the two countries that their interference will cost them a lot, and will be reflected negatively on their security and stability, noting that tension between him and Turkey has started to be alleviated recently.
As for Karkouk, al-Barazani warned that the Kurds will not give up Karkouk in the framework of a new Federal Iraqi state.
