Sudan: Israel backs the rebels
Sudan-Israel, Politics, 9/16/2002

The official spokesman for the Sudanese army Lt. Gen. Muhammad Bashir Suleiman said the link between the rebels movement with Israel through providing the rebels with weapons and training and the existence of Israeli experts in the lines of the rebels is a well known fact admitted by the leader of the rebels and was disclosed through John Garang's repeated visit to Israel.

In a statement to the Sudanese news agency on Sunday, the spokesman added that the foreign support for the rebel movement by weapons and money does not make peace among its priorities because the rebel movement has become an instrument for foreign forces used to achieve their strategic interests.

Lt. Gen. Suleiman described the leader of the rebells John Garang as a war trader and as the first beneficiary from this war.
