Bahrain to have vibrant political activities for elections
Bahrain, Politics, 9/14/2002
The King of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on Friday gave his instructions to make an amendment in the law of the Shoura and the parliamentary council to permit political societies to practice political activities.
The Bahraini official news agency said that the amendment provides for removing any restrictions imposed on the societies in activities to support candidates in the elections.
The agency explained that Sheikh Hamad stressed lifting the restrictions on the right of societies to political work during the elections comes as a provisional phase that enables the next National Council to take the needed legal measures in this regard.
This decision came following a meeting held between Sheikh Hamad with heads of 15 political societies to discuss their views about the parliamentary elections.
