Members of Salafia Jihadia cell arrested near kenitra

Three members of a cell named "Salafia Jihadia" were arrested last week at the village of Oulad Taleb Douar, near Kenitra, 40 Km northeast of Rabat, announced the regional commandment of the Royal Gendarmerie here.

The source said that the cell members were arrested last Thursday early in the morning and that books, documents and tapes advocating extremism were seized in their homes.

Several complaints were lodged against the cell members who used to wear hoods to attack their victims with knives and blackjacks.

The arrested persons are facing charges of setting up of criminal gangs and possession and use of knives.

Moroccan security services have since early August arrested several others belonging to the same network.
