Qatari official: our lands will not be base for American attack against Iraq

Qatar has stressed it will not be a base for launching any American attack against Iraq. This was expressed by a high ranking Qatari officials in press statements he made on Thursday.

He added "we do not want our lands to be used against Iraq or any other Arab and Muslim country. "The official who asked to be anonymous said "we do not oppose a permanent American military presence on our lands for defense and deterring purposes."

Meantime other Qatari officials denied, in similar statements that Doha has had received any request from the US concerning its forces use for Qatari establishments in launching an attack against Iraq. The Qatari official commented that these establishments are part of a comprehensive defense agreement signed between Qatar and the USA.
