Talal Bin Abdul Aziz: the Arabs agree with USA on toppling Iraq's government
Saudi Arabia-Iraq, Politics, 9/13/2002

The chairman of the Arab Fund for childhood and development and chairman of the Arab Gulf program in support of humanitarian organizations Saudi Prince Talal Bin Abdul Aziz al-Saud has considered the American attack against Iraq as "eventually" coming and that Washington will use the military bases it wants in the Arab world because the current Arab rejections of this attack is just "an attempt to please the Arab street."

The Saudi prince said on Thursday on the occasion of the first anniversary of September 11 attacks that the Arabs have agreed with the US to alienate the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein," as the rest of the whole world does, noting that Washington is now embarking on setting the date and the means to attack Iraq.

He added, what is taking place now is Arab bargaining with the US, as Iraq is considered the second ranking world country regarding oil reserves, "and might be number one, one day." Prince Talal indicated the importance of the Arabs go to the US "to become acquainted with details of all scenarios," stressing simultaneously that Washington does not have the "real intention" to divide Saudi Arabia because this is not in its interests.

He stressed that the Arabs do not have the option of threatening the Americans by using oil as a weapon, because "the others have alternatives in Russia, the Caspian area and Africa and that now they are looking forward to Iraq where oil springs can be occupied." The Saudi prince urged the Arabs to develop and establish constitutional establishments because the west views them as inferior because of their "tribal thinking and violation of human rights." He said that the Arabs will not think of launching an international campaign against Israel because it owns the atomic bomb.

As for the Saudi investments in the USA, Prince Talal said that the Arab markets cannot absorb these sums because these Arab states lack appropriate investment laws and the independent fair judiciary and other economic factors. He said that withdrawing these sums from the American banks where they do exists in shares, real estates and documents will result in huge losses that would be at 50% of their value.
