UAE to have 'India Window' for business tie-ups

The Indian Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASSOCHAM) Tuesday announced signing an agreement with Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry which will stipulate opening of facilitation desks in respective chambers to enhance trade and promote investments between.
With the signing of this agreement Sharjah, an emirate of the UAE, will soon have an 'India Window', reported the Indian news agency PTI, quoting a statement by Assocham. The understanding was signed Monday in Sharjah between the chamber president K K Nohria and Sharjah chamber chairman A M Al Midfa. Midfa told the visiting 30-member ASSOCHAM delegation that here was huge potential for increasing economic activities and UAE businessmen were keen to invest in the infrastructure, particularly in petro-products, roads and economic zones. Anil Agarwal, who led the ASSOCHAM delegation, said as many as 15 deals for third country exports were signed. India's trade with UAE has been growing at an estimated 11 per cent annually.
In another development, PTI reported that the Indian IBS Software Services, a leading supplier of software services for Travel, Transportation and Logistics industries, has won a contract from the Department of Sea Ports and Customs, Government of Sharjah, for implementing its integrated port management solution, "iport." "iPort" would be implemented at three major ports in Sharjah, namely Mina Khalid, Khor Fakkan and Hamriah.
The Department had been seeking an integrated solution to automate the operations of their Marine, Traffic, Accounts, Engineering, Personnel and Real Estate departments and selected "iPort" as their product of choice after detailed evaluations, an IBS release said Tuesday.
