Katsav: Israel is ready to rebuff any Iraqi attack

The Israeli President Moshe Katsav on Tuesday warned that Israel will rebuff "confidently" any Iraqi attack by missiles targeting it in case a US attack is made against Iraq, which the chairman of the Israeli military intelligence Aharon Farkash considered as "evident."

In a statement to the Israeli army radio, Katsav said "it is more expected that Iraq will direct attacks against Israel and I am sure that Israel is ready to counter this challenge and this time it does not intend to sit hand- tightened." He said he based his estimation to the situation to the assessment of the Israeli military officials.
