Moroccan minister meets Singapore peer
Morocco-Singapore, Politics, 9/11/2002

Moroccan minister of Habous (Islamic endowments) and Islamic affairs, Abdelkbir Alaoui M'daghri, met in Rabat Monday his Singaporean peer, Ibrahim Yaacoub Tamhourt, currently on a visit to Morocco.

Yaacoub Tamhourt said his delegation wants to benefit from Morocco's experience in traditional education and the methods adopted for it.

Although Muslims are a minority in Singapore, several institutions are looking after Islamic affairs such as mosques, pilgrimage and education, he said.

M'daghri explained how traditional education in Morocco has undergone important reforms since it is no longer restricted to Quranic schools, but is also given in other institutions at history and Islamic civilization classes.
