Continued Israeli attacks against the Palestinians
Palestine-Israel, Military, 9/11/2002

The Israeli forces on Tuesday at dawn assassinated one member of the Palestinian security forces in Betonia town near Ramullah and two Palestinians were gravely wounded in attacks carried out by the Israeli occupation forces against the town which was stormed by the Israeli tanks and helicopters.

Palestinian sources said the Israeli forces also stormed several villages in Nablus and arrested several Palestinians under the charges of resisting the Israeli forces.

Meantime, an Israeli force broke into al-Zahereyah quarters near Hebron and the said quarters was inspected and as a result Bassam Battat, one Palestinian resistance official was arrested.

The sources added that ten other Palestinians were arrested in Jenin, Areiha and Nablus including Loui Abda one of the Fatah leaders in Nablus.

The Palestinian youths retalited by attacking the Israeli forces to the east of Jenin and blowing off an explosive near an Israeli force in Nablus and throwing a mortar at an Israeli position near Rafah.

On the other hand, Hussein al-Sheikh, the official the Fatah movement in the West Bank denied news that the movement issued a statement to halt operations inside the territories of 1948 ( Israel).

In statements he made on Tuesday, al-Sheikh said that he did not issue his statement on behalf the Fatah movement but the European Union issued the document which was presumed to be agreed upon with all national and Islamic groups.
