Berri: Israel steals 150 million cubic meters of Lebanese waters
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 9/6/2002

The Lebanese President Emil Lahoud on Wednesday discussed with the Speaker of the Lebanese parliament Nabih Berri current political developments, and regional conditions were assessed.

Following the meeting, Berri said that focus was made on the Israeli threats concerning al-Wazzani river waters, noting that Lebanon had signed with several countries the agreement on nonnavigable water, while Israel refused and continued to refuse signing such an agreement.

The speaker of the Lebanese parliament said that Israel steals 150 million cubic meters of the Lebanese water, while many Lebanese villages are thirsty and drastically in need of water.

Meantime, the Israeli forces positioned in the occupied Shebaa farms bombarded on Wednesday evening Wadi al-Asal near Kafer Shouba in the eastern sector of south Lebanon.

Lebanese sources said the bombarded coincided with mopping up operations for the surrounding valleys of the Israeli position in Rweisat al-Alam.

On Tuesday evening, two Israeli helicopters flew over the occupied Shebaa farms.

During past week, the Lebanese national resistance registered 58 Israeli violations of the Lebanese sovereignty.

In a statement, the Lebanese resistance said that number of Israeli air violations reached 41, nine land violations and some 8 naval violations. Since June 2000 number of Israeli violations of the Lebanese sovereignty reached 5241.
