Al-Yamani: Saddam will strike Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, if pressed
Saudi Arabia-Iraq, Politics, 9/6/2002
Former Saudi minister of oil Sheikh Zaki al-Yamani has warned that the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein might strike Saudi Arabia and Kuwait by missiles if Iraq is exposed to strong pressures as a result of the likely American war against him.
Al-Yamani who assumed the post of the minister of oil in Saudi Arabia between 1962- 1986 said that this possibility will make oil prices reach its utmost, expecting that price level will reach 100 dollars per one barrel.
Al-Yamani who mediated for reconciliation between Syria and Iraq in 1975 and used to meet then daily with the Iraqi president said "that the Iraqi forces burnt certain oil fields in Kuwait before its pullout from it in 1991," considering that this behavior should have " taught us an important lesson."
