Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation meets Moroccan officials
Morocco-Kuwait, Politics, 9/5/2002

The Kuwaiti parliamentary delegation currently visiting Morocco, headed by secretary general of the Kuwaiti parliament, Moubarak Beneh Al-Kharnij, met in Rabat Tuesday several officials, including Prime Minister, Abderrahmane Youssoufi.

Al-Kharnij and Youssoufi discussed the Morocco-Kuwait ties, commercial exchanges and the role of Kuwaiti financial institutions in promoting Moroccan economy.

They also underscored the importance of the coming meeting of the Arab Parliamentary Union (APU) in the defense of international legality, and called for the settlement of pending issues.

Al-Kharnij also conferred with Speaker of the House of Representatives (lower house of Morocco's parliament), Abdelouahed Radi, on the role of parliaments in fostering bilateral ties.

The Kuwaiti delegation also met first vice-president of the Chamber of Advisors (upper house), Mohammed Fadili, who voiced Morocco's readiness to make more efforts to bring Kuwaiti and Iraqi views closer on the pending issues which impact on the situation in the Middle East and the Arab states.

The visiting delegation hailed "Morocco's noble and courageous stands on Kuwait's territorial integrity as well Morocco's efforts to reach a solution to the problems entailed by the second Gulf war."
