EU rejects Israeli expulsion policy against Palestinians
Palestine-Israel, Military, 9/5/2002

The Israeli forces continued campaigns of arrest against the Palestinians which target six citizens from Taffouh village in al-Khalil ( Hebron), including Akram Abu Sininah, one of the Fatah cadres and the other five are among his aides.

The Israeli forces also carried out a mopping up operation against several cities and villages in the West Bank during which they arrested two citizens from Azmouk village to the east of Nablus and three from Ein Erek town near Ramullah, besides one citizen in Qalqilya and another near Jenin.

A Palestinian force wearing a Palestinian costumes attacked the headquarters of al-Zakaat ( endowment) in Toulkarem and arrested Yasser Fareed al-Sayyed ( 24 year old) under the pretext of being member in the Hamas movement. Two other Palestinians were arrested in Rafah, Gaza.

Meantime, the Isreali forces expelled Kifah and Intisar al-Ajouri to Gaza because they are members in the family of one Palestinian who carried out an attack operation against Israel. The Israeli forces also put four Palestinians from al-Baana village of the territories of 1948 under home arrest. They are Muhammad Bakri and his wife, and his two brothers Aziz and Mahmoud Bakri under the pretext of sheltering and helping Jihad Hammadeh who tries to carry out a "suicide operation." Meantime, the Danish foreign minister Per Stig Moller whose country assumes the current rotating presidency of the European Union denounced any expulsion operation of the Palestinians made by Israel.

In a joint press conference with the chairman of the Palestinian authority Yasser Arafat in the framework of his tour on the region to market the new European peace plan, Moller said "we are against expulsion and against collective punishment." He said "this is not the solution." Arafat described the Israeli expulsion policy as a crime against human rights and a flagrant violation to the international law.

The Palestinians retaliated by firing several shells at Natsareim, Neve Dekalim and Ghoushe Katif settlements and this resulted in damaging certain buildings. The Palestinians also threw mortars at the Israeli positions in the West Bank especially near Selfiet town.
