Japanese people oppose striking Iraq

An opinion poll issued on Wednesday showed that the Japanese opposed with great majority any American attack against Iraq.
The opinion poll which was issued by the Japanese Asahi Shimpon paper explained that 77% of the participants oppose military action against Iraq and 69% say that Japan should not cooperate in case an attack is made against Iraq.
Well known Japanese political analysists Shanjouri Okazaki said that this opinion poll will be a great restriction on what the Japanese prime minister can do to this effect.
Analysists say it will be difficult for Tokyo to give any practical support for the US, unless the latter gives a deliberate evidence on accusing Iraq of owning mass destruction weapons.
