Muhammad Atta's visit to Syria
Syria-USA, Local, 9/4/2002

The Monte Carlo radio correspondent in Damascus said Tuesday that the Syrian authorities handed over the American intelligence by the end of 2001 a full investigation about Muhammad Atta, the first accused person of implementing September 11 incidents in the US.

The correspondent said that engineer Atta had visited Aleppo, Syria, twice in 1994, delegated by Hamburg technological university in Germany in order to make a field study on reviving ancient Aleppo.

The correspondent said that the Syrian intelligence informed the Americans that Atta was not involved in terrorism during that time and that he had joined Bin Laden's organization in 1999.
