Saudi Arabia, Libya economic and investment agreements
Saudi Arabia-Libya, Economics, 9/4/2002

Saudi Arabia and Libya on Tuesday in Jeddah signed an agreement for economic, investment, technical, cultural, sport and youths co-operation.

This agreement which was signed on the Saudi side by the foreign minister prince Saud al-Faisal and on the Libyan side by Ali Abdul Salaam al-Tureiki, the secretary of the people's general committee for African unity, will contribute to developing and backing bilateral relations and cooperation in economic, trade and investment fields.

These include industrial, petrochemical, oil, agricultural, health affairs and the exchange of information relating to scientific researches and technical expertise between the two states as well as forming a joint committee representing the two sides, meets for consultations regarding necessary measures that should be taken to strengthen bilateral cooperation in all fields indicated in the said agreement.

In a press statement following the signing of the agreement Tureiki expressed his hope that the agreement will be able to boost bilateral relations. He said that it was agreed with the Saudi foreign minister to find out means of implementing this agreement and backing relations between the two states.

The Libyan official voiced his country's solidarity and stand with Saudi Arabia against the suspected media campaign launched against it, noting that he had reviewed with prince al-Faisal various issues debated on the Arab and international arenas and that view points were identical.
