Israel permits convening of the Palestinian Legislative Council

An Israeli official said that Israel decided on Tuesday to allow convene a meeting for the Palestinian Legislative Council on September 9 in Ramullah but it reserved what he had called the right of preventing access of certain members from taking part in the said meeting.

This official added that the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon permitted the convening of this meeting at the request of the Israeli defense minister Benyamin Ben Eliazer.

The source indicated that the coordinator who represents the Israeli government to the Palestinians Gen. Amous Jalaad will be the only person authorized to offer the necessary licenses provide for permitting any member at the legislative council from heading from Gaza to Ramullah or moving in the West Bank.
