Baghdad hosts emergency meeting for Arab Parliamentary Union

Works of the emergency session of the Arab parliamentary Union in its 42 session started on Tuesday in Baghdad with the participation of parliamentarians representing 19 Arab states in order to discuss the continued American threats against Iraq.

In the an inaugural speech at the session, the Iraqi vice president Izzat Ibrahim stressed that the need of a solid stand by the Arab nation against any threat being against Iraq or any other of the Arab states, according to the Arab league charter in the common Arab defense and to use all its potentials and material and spiritual potentials to that effect.

In his speech, Ibrahim called on the Arab nation through its representatives to provide all necessary support means and backing to the Palestinian people and their struggle on the political, economic and military sides.

In his speech, Ibrahim also called on the participating delegation to stand strongly beside Syria and Lebanon against any threat or aggression because all the Arabs are concerned to repel any aggression against the two states.

The conference, however, is attended by delegations from Syria, Egypt, Mauritania, Morocco, Somalia, Oman, Jordan, Yemen, Qatar, Djibouti, the UAE, Sudan, Lebanon, Tunisia, Algeria, Palestine, Libya as well as Iraq.
