Saudi crown prince stress solid relations with Washington
Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 9/3/2002
Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz on Monday informed the Saudi cabinet that the differences which surfaced in the stances between Washington and Riyadh during the past months do not reflect the reality of the "solid relations" between the two countries.
He added during presiding a meeting for the Saudi Cabinet on Monday in Jeddah "what have been recently rumored about relations between the two friendly countries is just irresponsible and do not at any rate reflect the reality of these relations," according to the Saudi news agency.
The Saudi crown prince indicated a telephone call he made on August 27 with the US President George Bush where Bush stressed "the solid" relations between Washington and al-Riyadh.
Meantime, Denmark's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Per Stig Moller whose country presides over the current rotating presidency of the European Union proposed to Crown Prince Abdullah details of the new European plan for peace in the Middle East.
