Saudi prince in Baghdad unofficially
Saudi Arabia-Iraq, Politics, 9/3/2002
A high ranking Saudi official on Monday denied Iraqi news on the visit of one of the Saudi princes to Iraq, in a first step of its kind since 1991.
The Saudi official said "if one member of the Saudi royal family has headed for Baghdad this 'will be unofficially.'" On Sunday, the press office of the Iraqi ministry of information announced that a Saudi prince from the Royal family will start as from Monday ( yesterday) a visit to Iraq, but he did not disclose the identity of the prince.
The ministry's statement said that the Saudi prince will arrive at Saddam's International airport on board of a plane belonging to "Saqer al-Khaleij " ( The Gulf hawk ) of the UAE airlines.
Worthy mentioning that the Saudi royal family includes thousands of princes, most of them are businessmen and one of the princes may take part in the Saudi trade exhibition to be held on September 9 in Baghdad.
