Talibani and the Kurdish state
Iraq, Politics, 9/3/2002

The leader of the Kurdistani Federation Party Jalal al- Talibani said that the Kurds leaders do not desire the foundation of a Kurdish state in Northern Iraq area, rather they want to form a democratic parliamentary authority in order to unify Iraq which is actually considered as divided to three parts.

In an exclusive statement to the Turkish NTV channel on Monday, Talibani added that Washington is determined to change the regime of the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and the forthcoming military operation against Iraq might start by the beginning of next week.

As for the provisional government in northern Iraq area, al-Talibani said that talks continue in this regard as no certain decision has not been yet taken.
