Morocco's balance of payments posts a 43.5 billion dh surplus in 2001

Morocco's balance of payments posted a surplus of 43.5 billion Dirhams (nearly 4.14 billion dollars) in 2001.
According to the report of the central bank Bank Al-Maghreb, the surplus consolidated the country's reserves in hard currency which were equivalent to 11.7 months of imports of general commodities.
Current transactions posted a surplus of 18.6 billion DH or 4.9 percent of the GDP, the report said, adding that the trade deficit remains relatively high although it showed a slight drop of 1.5 percent.
