Al-Sharq al-Awsat: Israel prevents 250 clergy men in Golan from visiting Syria
Syria-Israel, Politics, 8/31/2002
The Israeli occupation authorities refused to permit 250 men of religion from the Golan to visit their homeland Syria.
One clergy among those whose applications to visit the Golan were rejected in a statement to the London- based al-Sharq al-Awsat said that he was informed from the Israeli officials that he cannot enter Syria without elaborating further.
He added that this visit is "humanitarian. Syria is our homeland and our right is legalized by the international norms and charters which pertain to human rights to interact with our country and people with whom we were deprived to meet since years because of the prevailing occupation."
