Israel storms Jenin; Yaloun threatens to exterminate Palestinians
Palestine-Israel, Military, 8/31/2002

The Israeli occupation forces on Friday one again stormed into Gaza camp and violent confrontations erupted with the citizens who hurried to defend themselves and houses. The confrontation resulted in wounding four Palestinians including two children, while an Israeli military source admitted that three Israeli soldiers were wounded in the confrontation.

The Israeli army chief of staff Moshe Yaloun said in a statement issued by the Israeli daily Haartez on Friday that the Palestinian Intifada is like a cancer, and he threatened to oppress and silence this Intifada by collective extermination of the Palestinians.

Yaloun added that the Palestinian Intifada is considered as one of the most dangerous outer threats to Israel's existence.

Meantime, the Sans Frontier organization for the Israeli human rights called for investigating the Israeli defense minister Benyamin Ben Eliezer and the Israeli army chief of staff Moshe Yaloun over the use of Flashite shells used by the Israeli army in shelling Palestinian civilians, noting that each of the said shells contains thousands of nails.

In a message of protest to the legal advisor of the Israeli government Elakim Robinshtine, the organization said that the Flashite shells were used in bombarding a Palestinian house in al-Sheikh Ajleen quarters in Gaza last Wednesday and resulted in killing four Palestinians from one family. The organization added that the Israel's defense minister Ben Eliezer and Moshe Yaloun are approving the use of these weapons despite the fact that international law bans their use against civilians.

Three Palestinian boys from Beit Hanoun village in Gaza, prior to Sheikh Ajleen massacre were killed as a result of the Israeli forces use of Flashite shells.

Palestinian officials said that the Israeli army on Friday lifted for the first time and only for four hours the curfew imposed on the city of Nablus since 22 months.

Palestinian sources said that total number during which the Israeli forces lifted the curfew from Nablus since June 21 did not exceed 51 hours.
