Hizbullah resumes Shebaa confrontation, wounded three Israeli soldiers, Washington interferes
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 8/30/2002

In its first operation since 4 months, the Lebanese Hizbullah party attacked once again in the Shebaa farm, targeting two Israeli positions in al-Sammaqa and Rweisat al-Alam, direct hits were achieved as three Israeli soldiers were wounded.

Israel's Defense Minister Benyamin Ben Eliezer threatened Syria and Lebanon after the operation, warning that they are playing with fire. After his talks with the US under secretary of state David SatterField, Ben Eliezer considered the operation as "a Syrian provocation to Israel."

Well informed Lebanese sources said that American diplomatic sides made contacts with Lebanese official sides to investigate about what is taking place in the Shebaa Farms and the call for self control. The US source got a clarification that "the Lebanese resistance is working with the Shebaa farms which are an occupied Lebanese territories. The resistance operations are an expression of Lebanon's right to use available means for restoring back these farms."
