Al-Assad talks with Saudi crown prince in Jeddah about Arab solidarity, attacking Iraq

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Monday held important talks with Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Abdullah Ibn Abdul Aziz during his short visit to Jeddah.
The talks dealt with means of strengthening relations, developments in the occupied Palestinian territories and on the Arab and international arenas and the American threats to strike Iraq.
In this respect, Al-Assad stressed Syria's stand in support of Saudi Arabia in challenging "hostile campaigns it is facing."
Al-Assad and Abdullah held a meeting on Monday evening attended on the Syrian side by Vice President Abdul Halim Khaddam and the deputy Premier and foreign minister Farouk al- Shara.
On the Saudi side, the meeting was attended by Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz the minister of defense, prince Mut'ib Bin Abdul Aziz, prince Nawaf Bin Abdul Aziz, the Saudi foreign minister prince Saud al-Faisal and the minister of al-Haj and chairman of the honorary mission Eyad Madani.
Stress was laid on the importance of consolidating Arab solidarity in this critical phase on the ground of the care to preserve the supreme interests of the Arab nation and rejection of the concept of blackmail and threats used against the Arab states.
The two sides stressed the need of revitalizing joint Arab work and mobilizing efforts to preserve the Arab interests and the return back of Arab rights to its legitimate owners. It was agreed to continue coordination and consultation between the two states towards matters of destiny facing the Arab nation.
Al-Assad had arrived in Jeddah earlier in the day and was welcomed by the Saudi crown prince and official concerned. He returned back to Damascus on Monday evening.
