Kuwaiti documents to be restored back within weeks
Iraq-Kuwait, Politics, 8/27/2002

The UN envoy Richard Fouran has crossed the border by land from Iraq to Kuwait on Monday in order to draw the final arrangements for the return back of tons of Kuwaiti national documents which were taken by the Iraqis during the invasion of Kuwait 12 years ago.

The two states had agreed on a mechanism to return back the Kuwaiti archive and national documents. Fouran hoped that the process of returning back the Kuwaiti archive and documents will start in the "coming weeks."

Baghdad had announced its readiness to return back these documents immediately "after the UN will prepare necessary steps for that," according to the Iraqi foreign ministry.
