Al-Dostour: On an Arab Troika
Regional, Politics, 8/27/2002
The Jordanian daily al- Dostour said on Monday that a Syrian call to convene a tripartite summit including Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Syria has come in the due time because of threats and provocation imposed on the three states requires that the tripartite alliance should restore back the spirit that prevailed during after Oslo years.
In this regard, the Jordanian Arab al-Youm described the Arab Troika summit as a brilliant strategic idea, noting that if such a Troika is the maker of the general track of the Arab system, then Lebanon and Jordan play two special strategic role that supplement this Troika, with Lebanon resisting Israel and Jordan in supporting Iraq.
The paper added that the Arab "Egyptian, Saudi and Syrian" triangle has its significance and history and ability to achieve Arab consensus and isolating the "opposition."
