Libya, Congo for establishing peace in Greater lakes areas
Libya-Congo, Politics, 8/27/2002

Libya's Leader of the Revolution Colonel Muammar al Qathafi on Sunday evening received a telephone call from President of the Republic of Congo Brazavil relating to the efforts made to establish peace and stability in the "Greater Lakes" area.

During the telephone call the two sides discussed bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern.

On the other hand, Qathafi appealed to the world activists taking part in the World Environment summit to be held today in Johannesburg, south Africa in which he called for a serious stand on the future of the "Nile Delta" on which the fate of millions of people in Egypt depends.

In his appeal, Qathafi stressed that the Delta constitutes the only arable land and the source for the nutrition of the people of Egypt has been exposed to risks embodied in the increase in erosion rates, and pollution.
