Al-Sharq: Abu Mazin stops his work in Palestinian authority
Palestine, Politics, 8/26/2002
The Lebanese daily al-Sharq said in its Saturday's issue, quoting Palestinian sources, that member of the PLO executive committee and the closer to succeed the Palestinian President Yasser Arafat, Mahmoud Abbas, Abu Mazin has stopped working since more than one month.
The paper added quoting the same sources that Abbas who opposed the issue of the current reforms in the Palestinian Authority refused to take part in it following a "row" with the Palestinian President in his office because of appointments Arafat had made on the ground of personal links and mediations." The sources told the paper that Mahmoud Abbas who had left for Amman refused to answer the telephone call or to carry out any pivotal political role in the Palestinian authority.
