Al-Rai al-Am: Contacts between Khartoum, Asmara

The advisor for the Sudanese president for political affairs Qutbi al-Mahdi has stated that contacts were made between Khartoum and Asmara during the past days in order to revitalize the special agreement relating to the security committees meeting between the two countries.
In a statement to the Sudanese daily al-Rai al-Am issued on Saturday, al-Mahdi explained the two sides agreed to convene a meeting in Asmara in order to discuss several security issues relating to pending issues between the two countries especially the existence of the armed Sudanese opposition inside the Eritrean territories.
On the other hand, al-Mahdi stressed that Sudanese official will visit Cairo during the few coming days in the context of the care of the Sudanese government to maintain co-ordination with Egypt at highest level concerning developments of the peace process in Sudan.
Al-Mahdi said that the Sudanese government is careful to foster common stances with Egypt and develop co-ordination with it during the coming phase concerning peace issues.
