Al-Sharq al-Awsat: Al-Qaida cell discovered in Oman

The London- based al-Sharq al-Awsat said Sunday quoting American sources that a cell that belongs to al-Qaida organization in Oman was discovered and its members were arrested.

The sources refused to disclose the nationality of members of this cell or even their number and confined to saying that they were eventually arrested and evacuated to the US, and they are investigating to know the details about their ties with al-Qaida organization and its leader Osama Bin laden.

The sources expected that members of the cell to have had entered the Omani lands from Pakistan.

The sources said that the American authorities are currently carrying out a comprehensive chasing operation for al- Qaida organization members in most parts of the world, stressing that members of this organization are from more than 30 nationalities. A matter which makes the chasing operation more difficult.
