Moroccan ngo calls international community to investigate case of missing Sahrawi
Morocco-Algeria, Politics, 8/24/2002
The association of parents of Sahrawis, victim of repression in Tindouf camps (PASVERTI) has called the international public opinion to mobilize to investigate the case of the Moroccan Sahrawi national, Hamdi Ali Salem Mohamed Haouid, missing since 1975. PASVERTI said in a communique sent to MAP bureau in Madrid that Hamdi Ali Salem Mohamed Haouid, a former employee of "FOS Boucraa," was arrested by the polisario gang and was seen for the last time in 1975 in the Rachid prison by El Houssine Baida, current chairman of PASVERTI.
The association which calls the international community to investigate the situation in the polisario secrete prisons charges the leaders of the polisario gang, mainly Bechir Mustapha Sayyed, so-called former foreign minister of the puppet Sahrawi republic, Brahim Ghali, polisario delegate in Spain and Sid Ahmed El Batal, a notorious torturer, to be behind the disappearance of Hamdi Ali Salem Mohamed Haouid. Hamdi Ali Salem Mohamed Haouid, born in 1952 in Daoura, was arrested in 1973, when the Moroccan Sahara was still under Spanish rule, at Benzarrene.
