US denies it provided aid to Iraq in its war against Iran
Iraq-Iran-USA, Politics, 8/21/2002
The US on Monday denied press information which talked about providing large technical information to Iraq during its war against Iran in the 1980s.
The spokesman for the US state department Philip Reeker indicated that the information which said the US collaborated in the use of chemical weapons with Iraq are groundless. He said "Claims that the US was complicit or
acquiesced in the use of chemical weapons by Iraq, those claims are complete nonsense and utterly without foundation."
On Sunday, the New York Times said that the US gave to Iraq large technical aid during its war against Iran in the 1980s despite the fact that it had known that Baghdad will resort to using the chemical gas in its war.
