Libya summons the British ambassador
Libya-UK, Politics, 8/19/2002
The secretary of the People's Committee for Foreign Relations and International Cooperation in Libya, Abdul Rahman Shalqam, on Saturday evening summoned the British ambassador accredited to Libya and handed him a memorandum asking the British government to deliver "agent" Alkodi Tnoroth, member of al-Qaida organization. This comes after revelations by former British intelligence officer David Shayller that Britain paid the said "agent" a sum of 100,000 Sterling Pounds to assassinate the Libyan leader Muammar al Qathafi.
Shalqam on Saturday held a meeting attended by several experts and specialists in the committee to that effect in which it was decided to take urgent measures based on the decision that the British government is responsible for this act and it has to hand over this "agent" according to international norms, and in an expedited manner.
