Jordanian King postpones legislative elections until spring, 2003

Talking about internal issues in a speech he addressed to the Jordanians on Thursday, the Jordanian King announced the postponement of the legislative elections until the spring of 2003. These elections were originally due this September.
The king said "we have found out that the difficult conditions our region is passing require the postponement of these elections to a later time." He expressed his hope that conditions will change so that these legislative elections will be held in due and set time.
