Israel cancels meeting, continued acts of arrest, demolishing, Palestinian child killed by Israelis

The Israeli forces on Thursday continued attacks against the Palestinians. The Israeli tanks incurred for long distances into Gaza valley opening fire in all directions. The same Israeli incursion was made into the area situated to the north of Khan Younis and this resulted in killing the Palestinian child Aymen Basem fares and demolishing vast area of the agricultural lands.

The Israeli forces also broke into Beit Awa village near Hebron, and stormed into Toulkarem and Jenin areas, arrested 16 Palestinians.

Clashes took place between the Israeli soldiers and the Palestinian citizens in Anata camp to the north of occupied Jerusalem, while the Israeli settlers, under the protection of the Israeli forces, broke into Laban village in the West Bank and carried out destruction acts.

Meantime, the Israeli forces on Thursday expelled from the occupied Palestinian territories to Jordan a photographer working for Reuters after he was held for 20 hours in a cell near Tel Aviv.

Yatim Herig, Reuters' director in Jerusalem said that photographer Ahmad Bahed, has been working for the agency and carries the Belgian nationality covering incidents in the occupied Palestinian territories since October 2001.

Meantime, Israel has announced the postponement of a meeting which was due between the Israeli defense minister Benyamin Ben Eliezer and the official for the interior affairs in the Palestinian Authority Abdul Razzaq al-Yahya until next week.

Channel II in the Israeli TV said that the said meeting was due to discuss Israel's withdrawal from certain Palestinian areas which were recently reoccupied by Israel.

In a statement following its meeting in Ramullah, the West Bank, the Palestinian authority said that this meeting was due on Thursday evening.

Israeli political sources said the Israeli foreign minister Shimon Peres talked by telephone with al-Yahya and expressed to him Israel's readiness to expand "Gaza's first" plan so as to include Bethlehem and other areas, in case the Palestinian authority will assume the security responsibilities for these cities.

On the other hand, an explosive went off in a jeep for the Israeli army in Nablus. Fire was opened at an Israeli armored patrol while running near al-Am'ari camp to the south of Ramullah.
