US military discussed coast guard operation in Yemen

The Yemeni prime minister Abdul Qader Bajmal discussed with the leader of the American fifth fleet stationed in the Gulf area in Sanaa on Sunday the American support for the Yemeni coastal guards, according to the Yemeni news agency SABA.

SABA said that Bajmal discussed with American official the support given by the American side to the Yemeni coastal guards in order to be able from performing their tasks in protecting territorial waters.

The agency quoted the American official who arrived in Sanaa earlier on Sunday that his country will support the institutions of the Yemeni coasts guards and also in training Yemeni cadres working in this regard." Yemen shows cooperation with the UN in following up members. Washington says they are linked to al-Qaida organization, led by Osama Bin Laden, the main convicted person, in the eye of the American authorities of carrying out the attacks against the US in September 11.

Yemen receives American aid to support its security and military equipment, taking parts in chasing the suspected persons. According to Yemeni officials, the US is due to support Yemen by boats to monitor the coasts and help in building a firm in Aden, southern Yemen to train 2000 troops to qualify them for guarding the coasts of Yemen on both the Arab and the Red Sea of 900,1 Km.
