Islamic organizations in London warn the US, Britain
Regional-UK, Politics, 8/15/2002
Leaders of extremist Islamic organizations in London strongly warned the US and Britain that the two countries will be exposed to terrorist attacks similar to those of September 11 launched against the US if they will be persistent to launch a war against Iraq.
Sheikh Omar Bakri Muhammad, who leads the Islamic expatriate movement, said that he together with other Islamic organizations would issue a Fatwa (a religious instruction) in case of any attack against Iraq.
In statements issued on Wednesday by the British daily Daily Telegraph, Bakri added that the Islamists do not like Saddam Hussein very much, but they cannot accept any American- British military act against Iraq.
He described the British- American alliance as a satanic alliance targeting the Islamic world.
Bakri explained that Muslims inside Britain are not permitted to do anything, but the British government has to expect resistance against it from outside Britain. He recommend that the British government and the British public opinion had better understand the consequences that result from "playing with fire."
