Egypt-Sudan, Politics, 8/14/2002
Egypt's Head of the People's Assembly Foreign Relations Committee Moustafa Al-Fiki voiced concern over Machakos protocol signed last month between Khartoum and the Sudanese People's Liberation Army (SPIA), saying it was a surprise.
ΚΚΚ In an interview with an Egyptian TV programme aired Monday night, Fiki said the details of the protocol were not known and no one expected that such an agreement would be reached so quickly.
ΚΚΚ He said his concern stemmed out of keenness on the interests of Sudan, a country of great value and weight.
ΚΚΚ He referred to Washington's Sudan interest in the Sudanese file, asserting that the solution should be African.
