Hamas approve document on strategy for resistance

The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas has approved the document, prepared by the formation committee in the higher follow up committee of the national and Islamic forces, which is based on three main points which are: defining the Palestinian struggle strategy; liberating the lands occupied in 1967, and forming a united national leadership for the Palestinian people after starting a dialogue that sets work mechanisms and resistance means.

The movement had reservations on the document, and asked for some amendments but Hamas and the Islamic Jihad stressed, simultaneously, continued "martyrdom operations" against occupation even if an agreement will not be reached concerning this document.

One of the Hamas leaders, Ismael Abu Shanab, said that the movement will not accept any document depriving it from its right to resist the occupation including "martyrdom operations." He said that Hamas cling to its legitimate right to resist the occupation, adding that the document includes no word on halting the martyrdom operations, rather speaks of "the legitimacy of resistance in all its forms." Similarly, Muhammad al-Hindi, one of the Islamic Jihad leaders, said that the movement will continue resisting the occupation even if an agreement will be reached concerning the document which did not refer to halting resistance.
