Jordanian Labor front calls for the elections, Muasher says striking Iraq
Jordan, Politics, 8/12/2002

The Jordanian foreign minister Marwan Muasher has stressed that an American attack against Iraq will take place ( one hundred percent).

Meantime, the Islamic movement in Jordan has accused the Jordanian government as being not serious in making the parliamentary elections and renewed its demands to set a date for carrying out the elections and not to postpone it again.

Following recent news that a decision was taken by the Jordanian government to postpone the elections until next year 2003, the Islamic labor front party (Hizb Jabhit al-Amal al-Islami ) issued a statement in which it accused the government as "of so far not being serious in dealing with the issue of the elections." It called on the government to set "a date to make these elections in order to enable the various political forces in the country which seeks to take part in it from defining its positions regarding their participation in these elections in order to enable the various political forces in the country to prepare for that."

Meantime, Muasher said in an interview issued on Saturday his country's total rejection to be used as a base for an American likely attack against Iraq. He told the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am that the American attack against Iraq " is coming one hundred percent." He expressed his conviction that the opportunity to avoiding this attack even if Baghdad implements UN security council resolutions.

he said "no body asked us to use our lands by Washington, besides we can not accept this request."
