Turkey buys from Israel 54 pilot-less planes
Israel-Turkey, Politics, 8/12/2002
The Israeli daily Jerusalem Post said quoting an important source at the Turkish ministry of defense that Turkey is preparing to sign a contract at a cost of USD 76 million to buy 54 new Israeli pilot-less planes of "Yukav" type.
The source explained that "54 pilot-less planes were earlier handed over to Turkey and that Israel will hand over Turkey 54 pilot-less planes in the two coming years." This plane can carry out reconnaissance missions by remote control.
Last July Turkey decided to assign the Israeli general company for military industries to develop 300 helicopters of various types for a cost of USD 110 million.
On August 6th, Israel vowed to implement a contract signed two years ago provided for buying 50 million cubic meters of waters annually from Turkey within a period of 20 years for weapon deals to be imported by Turkey from Israel..
Israel and Turkey are linked to important economic and military relations since the two countries signed in 1996 a military cooperation agreement that provoked the anger of most of the Arab states and Israel.
